The album was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and selling over 470,000 copies in its first week. The album features 14 tracks, including the hit singles "Look What You're Doing" and "All My Life".

"Double Up" has been widely praised for its raw energy and Mase's charismatic flow. The album's impact can still be felt today, with many regarding it as one of the best hip-hop albums of the 90s.
