In a post-apocalyptic world where a solar flare has destroyed the ozone layer, robotic engineer Finch (Tom Hanks) lives alone with his dog, Goodyear. Suffering from severe radiation sickness, he builds a humanoid robot named Jeff to take care of Goodyear after he dies. As a massive storm approaches, Finch, Jeff, and Goodyear embark on a dangerous cross-country journey to reach San Francisco, teaching Jeff about trust, love, and what it means to be human.
