The story follows a group of college students who are traveling through Georgia on their way to spring break. They are sidetracked by a detour sign leading them to the seemingly idyllic town of Pleasant Valley. The townsfolk, led by the charismatic Mayor Buckman (Robert Englund), welcome the students with open arms, inviting them to be the "guests of honor" at the town's annual "Guts and Glory Jubilee."
