Immediately following the events of Pitch Black , Riddick, Jack (now a teenager), and the Imam are traveling through space on a mercenary ship. They are intercepted by an insane bounty hunter named Antonia Chillingsworth , who runs a floating prison/ship called the Dark Fury . Chillingsworth isn't interested in money; she is an artist obsessed with capturing "primitive violence." She wants to freeze Riddick in carbonite and display him as her ultimate art piece.

The planet is inhabited by a group of survivalists, including Frya (Radha Mitchell) and Matheson (Cole Hauser), who are trying to start a new life. However, their peace is short-lived as they soon discover that Riddick is not what he seems.
