The movie revolves around the lives of three characters: Chirag (Ayushmann Khurrana), a struggling writer; Bela (Kriti Sanon), a beautiful and free-spirited young woman; and Barry (Rajkummar Rao), Bela's overprotective and dominating boyfriend. The story begins with Chirag, who moves to Bareilly in search of inspiration for his writing. There, he meets Bela, who is stuck in a toxic relationship with Barry. Chirag and Bela form an unlikely friendship, which eventually blossoms into romance.
