The film opens with a 15-minute continuous shot of a jackhammer tearing through a Manila highway. We meet Konstru (real name: Gregorio), a 54-year-old "manong" who has worked in construction for 30 years.
The director, Direk Marlon Velez, uses a technique he calls "Concrete Realism." He actually hired real construction workers as actors. The "Manong" is played by a former OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) named Ruben Soriano, who lost three fingers in a Saudi Arabian worksite accident.
