The movie takes place in 1882, in the Arizona Territory. Albert Stark (played by Seth MacFarlane) is a sheep farmer who feels like he's losing his place in the world. The railroad is coming to town, bringing with it a new era of progress and change, but also threatening the livelihoods of people like Albert. One day, a mysterious and beautiful woman named Anna (played by Charlize Theron) arrives in town, and Albert finds himself falling for her.
